Today marks the official launch of the Georgia Council for Safer Gaming (GCSG), and I am honored to lead this "Modern Model" for public health advocacy as Interim Executive Director. While many traditional councils focus on established forms of gambling, our mission is to address the entire spectrum—with a hyper-focus on emerging digital markets. These high-growth segments, including prediction markets and online gaming-adjacent products, represent a massive "vortex" of risk that frequently evades traditional support frameworks. Research indicates that young adults are now the fastest-growing group seeking help for gambling issues, yet they often find traditional support systems out of sync with their digital-first realities. Georgia currently invests just $0.04 per resident in problem gambling support—roughly one-tenth of the national average. GCSG is here to close that gap by providing timely, relevant resources tailored to today's mobile-first world.
