Interesting insights from the EY Parthenon CEO Outlook 2026. Despite global uncertainty, financial services CEOs are optimistic about growth fueled by bold investments in AI, talent, and strategic deals. The majority of CEOs now report that they are either in the midst of a significant enterprise-wide transformation initiative (52%) or plan to begin one in 2026 (45%). AI is moving from pilot to enterprise scale, with 58% of CEOs seeing it as a key growth driver. Encouragingly, 69% say AI investments will maintain or grow their workforce, signaling a shift toward upskilling and human-AI collaboration. M&A remains a top lever for transformation—53% plan acquisitions and 79% are eyeing alliances to fast-track access to tech and talent. In 2026, agility and innovation will define the winners. That signal from the latest EY-Parthenon CEO Outlook reflects a shift I’m seeing with leadership teams. M&A is being used less as an episodic growth move and more as a deliberate way to reconfigure the enterprise.   Where value is created has changed. It’s no longer only about the announcement of the deal, but about the discipline behind it – clear strategic intent, integration aligned to the operating model, and early attention to people and skills.   Advantage won’t come from doing more deals.
