Luma AI just dropped Ray3 with an impressive demo promising 4K HDR video. I decided to put it to the test. No cherry-picking, just raw results from 2 hours of use. Site: https://lumalabs.ai/ray 4k download link to watch without compression: https://lnkd.in/eBfte2gX ✨ What stood out: -Interface is smooth you can queue shots and run multiple variants at once. -Cheap to run half of my $30 credit gave me ~100–150 generations, draft mode is a great feature! -Camera motion looks strong. -Fast turnaround. ⚠️ Where it struggles: -720p looks solid, HD is fine but 4K falls apart. The upscale looks more like low-poly CGI than real 4K. -Prompts aren’t followed well. Even simple prompts like “static camera” took multiple retries. -Every usable shot took 6-10 variants. -Close-ups look good, but medium/wide shots suffer from the usual AI quirks. 🔥 What really annoyed me The tech demo on their website looks like absolute fire. Trying to recreate those shots was a bit of a failure. Sure, I managed to get the camera motion and scene in there but only after a shotgun approach of endless iterations. And even then, the image quality never came close to their demo material. It suffers from the same issue as Veo3: amazing marketing, but the actual results require endless “slot machining.” 💡 Takeaway Ray3 has potential the speed and pricing are great but right now, Seedream still delivers stronger results overall for a cheaper price. Proud moment for our team. The Ankler just ranked Autodesk Flow Studio #1 on its list of “8 AI Companies Doing This the Right Way (and Won’t Get You Sued).” What resonated most is the framing: AI as an assistant, not an auteur, built to integrate into existing VFX workflows, preserve human performance, and expand creative ambition without replacing artists. Ethical, defensible, production-ready AI isn’t the loudest path, but it’s the one that scales long-term. This is real-time.. The debate about Nvidia's latest neural rendering tech is ongoing. One side sees the potential of the technology to bridge the gap across the uncanny valley, to give us a much less rigid creative process than a to b to c.. the other side shouts "slop" and tries to shame any creative who dares to explore this new technology, any chance they get. Meanwhile, I'm over here saying "I told you so".. Gen Ai is here to stay, its becoming real-time and Nvidia now has the "RTX on" for AI which I've been talking about for years. We need creatives to help shape meaningful tools that combine this tech with much more granular creative control.. with tools where you as an artist see your creative thumbprint from beginning to end in the parts of the work that matters the most to you. If you're shaming artists or storytellers who embrace these tools, you're doing them a disservice in my opinion. If they don't learn to utilize these tools and workflows, to make them their own and to shape them, others will. There's no way this tech won't be a huge part of the creative industry and of the way we tell stories. It's happening around us as we speak. That said, at the core of it, do what makes you happy and create in any way you like. Don't let people tell you that "you can't do this" or "you have to do it like this". I made the video here by combining Krea.ai's realtime ai editing tool with a feed of me sculpting and building in Dreams, a creative sandbox/game engine on PS5 and 4 that lets you sculpt and build pretty much anything you can imagine in a very intuitive and "hands on" way.

Local AI models have just gotten insane. Having some fun with Flux.1 Kontext [dev] with my AI PC. Sample below. This is just scratching the surface. InPaint, outpaint, stylizing, photo compositing all possible just by prompting what to change. This is the future. I did this using ComfyUI, part of my AI Playground install, running on my Intel Core Ultra 200V (Lunar Lake) laptop. ComfyUI now provides template workflows for to do this. Very handy, worked straight away.
