Attribution is a bitch. I was talking with a contractor the other day—he’s paying three marketing vendors: PPC. SEO. Google Maps. And he’s spinning in circles trying to figure out who to give credit to for a single lead that sold. Here’s the truth no one likes to say out loud: They all did their job. He was ranking in the maps. He showed up in organic. He got a paid click. That’s the damn point. And yet, because the customer clicked the AdWords ad, now the SEO guy must’ve failed? The GMB strategy didn’t matter? Come on. It’s like blaming your wide receiver for not scoring when the quarterback hands it off to the running back. The team still got the touchdown. Attribution? It's messy. It’s hard. It’s never clean. Unless your customer prints a coupon and hands it to you like it’s 1997, you’ll never fully know why they chose you. Maybe it was your reviews. Maybe it was your brand. Maybe it was the jingle that’s still stuck in their head from 6 months ago. Spoiler: it was probably all of it. Your brand. Your rep. Your visibility. Your customer experience. Your team’s sales training. Your marketing vendors. All working together like an ecosystem. Stop slicing up credit like it’s Thanksgiving pie. Instead, ask: is the system working?
