Angi is building better leaders one conversation at a time, by partnering with NextArrow to conduct workshops for our leadership teams over the next couple of weeks. Today's workshop was on Communicating with Impact. The focus? Turning difficult conversations into productive ones, without sacrificing trust or empathy. Key takeaways: Prepare with purpose – clarify facts, assumptions, and desired outcomes before you walk in. Navigate the moment – use a 3-step structure to share the message, invite dialogue, and align on next steps. Follow through – capture agreements, check for understanding, and circle back to reinforce progress. We practiced real scenarios, gave each other candid feedback, and walked out with actionable strategies for handling feedback, conflict, and high-stakes decisions—especially when the pressure is on. Mentorship has been one of the defining forces in my career. In this panel, I shared something I believe deeply: mentorship only works when it turns into action. Advice matters, but execution builds trust and momentum. The strongest mentorship relationships I’ve seen are mentee-driven. When someone comes prepared, takes ownership, and follows through, growth compounds quickly. Appreciative of the space created by the Amazon Black Employee Network (BEN – Finance) for conversations like this. Especially during Black History Month, I’m reminded that access to mentorship and sponsorship isn’t always equal. Being intentional about developing others matters. Grateful for the people who invested in me and committed to doing the same for others.
