Nexus Energy Partners Strengthens Anadarko Basin Position Through Two Strategic Transactions DENVER, CO- June 27, 2025 – Nexus Energy Partners today announced two significant transactions in Oklahoma’s Anadarko Basin that are anticipated to boost the company’s proved reserves by approximately 12%. The acquisitions further solidify Nexus’ position as one of the premier non-op companies in the Mid-Continent region. The first transaction involves the acquisition of a 12.5% working interest in the Bearden Unit, operated by Continental. This four-well development is located in Grady County, Oklahoma, within the SCOOP play. Each of the four wells will feature 3-mile laterals targeting the Woodford formation. Drilling is expected to begin in June 2025, with initial sales anticipated in the fourth quarter of this year. Nexus’ total net capital expenditure in this unit is approximately $7.2 million. Nexus also acquired a 6% weighted average working interest in the Hufnagel Unit, a six-well development located in Canadian County, Oklahoma, within the STACK play. Coterra operates this unit. These wells feature 3-mile laterals and target both the Mississippian and Woodford formations. Drilling operations began in March 2025, with first production anticipated for the fourth quarter of this year. Meta’s 2GW Hyperion Data Center just cleared a major hurdle in Louisiana. The Louisiana Public Service Commission has approved Entergy to build three natural gas plants, totaling 2.26GW, to power Meta’s new hyperscale campus in Richland Parish. Two units will come online in 2028, with the third at Entergy’s Waterford site by 2029. Entergy will also invest $1.2B in a 100-mile, 500kV transmission project, plus two substations, eight 230kV lines, and six customer-owned substations to support the site. Meta is offsetting most costs, paying full annual revenue for the plants for 15 years, helping protect other customers from rate hikes. “These investments will help power one of the most advanced data centers in the world and reinforce our grid,” said Phillip May, CEO of Entergy Louisiana. The LPSC also approved up to 1.5GW of solar procurement through an expedited process highlighting a push for balanced energy sourcing. Hyperion will span 2,250 acres with nine buildings, completed in phases through 2030. Renderings suggest a campus designed for massive AI workloads. Greg Abbott signed the AAPL-sponsored landman bill, SB 1172, into law. The bill amends the existing state code to eliminate any licensing requirements by the Texas Real Estate Commission for landwork in renewables and other energy sources. For years, landmen have enjoyed these protections for work in oil and gas development and production, but in June 2024, Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton issued a surprising legal opinion holding that “a person negotiating a lease for property of a wind power project on behalf of another, for compensation, is required to hold a license issued by the Commission.” The opinion, which provided an unexpected interpretation of the long-standing licensing exemption for minerals in Texas, also called into question whether a TREC license would be required for landwork not just for wind leasing but also for other unspecified renewable energy sources not explicitly exempted in the state code. The Attorney General’s new interpretation of Texas law upended a long-held state policy that a TREC license was not required for landwork in any energy source, leaving AAPL members confused and uncertain about the landwork they perform and whether they might be operating in violation of TREC licensing requirements. It was critical that AAPL protect its members, so we immediately took action to resolve this issue by ensuring that landmen were exempt from any TREC licensing requirements. With our sponsored bill, AAPL found broad support from Texas House and Senate lawmakers who agreed with our position to update the law to protect landmen. Specifically, the new definition that AAPL successfully added to the state Occupations Code includes a nonexhaustive list of energy sectors that would have otherwise required licensing had AAPL not acted. Those new codified areas include, but are not limited to, geothermal, nuclear, solar, and wind energy — and even yet unknown sources of energy in which AAPL members may engage in the near future. With the success of SB 1172, AAPL members can now rest assured that landman services performed in not just oil and gas but also in renewables and all other energy sources will not require a TREC real estate license. Conroe Denies Survey Access for 240-Mile Mustang Express Natural Gas Pipeline The Conroe City Council has denied a request from the proposed Mustang Express Pipeline project to conduct survey work on city-owned property, citing insufficient project details and concerns tied to the Texas city’s recently adopted pipeline ordinance.  According to Community Impact, the council voted March 12 to reject a survey access form that would have allowed the company to evaluate land at the city’s Southwest Wastewater Treatment Plant for potential temporary workspace and access areas. City staff said the request lacked key engineering information, including a preliminary pipeline alignment and details on associated infrastructure. The proposed Mustang Express project is a 240-mile, 42-inch intrastate natural gas pipeline designed to transport up to 2.5 billion cubic feet per day from supply points in Colorado and Waller counties, Texas, to the Port Arthur LNG II facility. Project plans include roughly 187 miles of mainline pipeline, a 53-mile lateral, three compressor stations and a nitrogen removal unit, with construction targeted to begin in 2028. #conroe #pipeline #oilandgas
