The Supply Chain Technology industry needs to be cleaned up between sex trafficking, fraudulent revenue and insider trading. We need to hold Research firms and third party consultants firms accountable who continue to recommend these companies. 1. Human Trafficking and Forced Labor in Supply Chains Forced labor and trafficking are deeply embedded in global supply chains, especially in agriculture, fishing, and tech manufacturing. The UNODC and ILO report that nearly two-thirds of global forced labor cases are linked to private sector supply chains. [unodc.org], [core.verisk.com] The tech industry, including data labeling for AI, has been flagged for exploitative labor practices, often involving children in developing countries. [core.verisk.com] Legal frameworks like the Trafficking Victims Protection Reauthorization Act (TVPRA) allow lawsuits against companies that knowingly benefit from ventures involving forced labor. Insider Trading and Securities Fraud in Logistics Tech The SEC has ramped up enforcement, targeting novel insider trading schemes like “shadow trading” and violations involving logistics and tech executives. [ffslawfirm.com], [natlawreview.com] A notable case involved a Texas man profiting $1.8 million from insider information overheard during a remote work call, showing how vulnerable logistics and tech firms are to internal breaches. [ffslawfirm.com] The FINRA Insider Trading Detection Program monitors 100% of trading activity and refers hundreds of cases annually to the SEC and DOJ. [finra.org] 3. Accountability of Third-Party Consultants and Research Firms Third-party risk management (TPRM) is increasingly critical, yet many firms lack robust frameworks to assess vendor integrity, especially in logistics tech. [assets.kpmg.com], [erm.ncsu.edu] Research firms and consultants often recommend vendors without sufficient due diligence, contributing to failed implementations and reputational damage. The January LMI report shows inventory levels rebounding from their December low, but compared to typical January surges, the rate of restocking remains modest at 53.9 versus last year’s 58.5. This is deliberate, as firms are deciding to stick with leaner inventories, likely in response to high holding costs and uncertainty. That said, Inventory Costs climbed to 71.3%, thanks to tariffs, inflation, and supply chain volatility, all of which continue to outpace inventory growth. Last night the topic in my Intro to Supply Chain course was performance measurements. Something that is critical for the supply chain. We discussed what they are, how to develop them and why they are needed. Simply put the reason is to create action and to act on the right things. My favorite thing is to show them a dashboard or scorecard with green, yellow and red metrics and ask them what should we focus on immediately. Do you know the answer? With so many moving parts now inside our operations and incredibly fast paced environments, the fundamentals of performance metrics are evolving to also include real time measurement. Measuring something and taking action a week later is not particularly helpful in many current environments. We need action today and we need it now. Today I'll be discussing how to get this type of visibility and ultimately get to orchestration within warehouse operations with Keith Moore of AutoScheduler.AI We'll also explore how to leverage AI to get these measurements in the moment from where ever you may be in the operation, a critical step to moving to the next level in operational measurements.
