Building an Always On High Availability Environment in Oracle VirtualBox on my home network. I recently built a 2-node SQL Server Always On Availability Group using VirtualBox + Windows Server 2022 to simulate a production HA environment. Key Challenge Getting stable networking between Node 01 and Node 02 while maintaining internet access. Using a Bridged Adapter initially caused issues common in personal home networks: 1 - DHCP/IP conflicts from the router 2 - Unreliable connectivity over WiFi 3 - VMs intermittently losing network access Solution Implemented a dual-adapter design: 1 - Internal Network (LABNET) → Cluster & replication traffic 2 - NAT Adapter → Internet access (updates, installs) This provided stable cluster communication and reliable internet connectivity.
