The latest carriage dispute between Gray Media and DISH Network has taken 226 local stations off the satellite platform nationwide. Another blackout. Another reminder of how fragile the traditional distribution model for local television has become. We have approved $3.29 million in CASF Broadband Adoption Account grants to expand digital literacy training and public broadband access across California. These 21 projects will serve more than 16,000 Californians, providing digital skills training, free public Wi-Fi access, and support for broadband subscriptions in underserved communities. When combined with additional awards from the July 2025 grant cycle, the total investment reaches up to $13.4 million, supporting more than 22,000 Californians with digital literacy training statewide.
