I was honored to join Laura Boyce, Scott Gaiber, Monika Williams Shealey, Sen. Vincent Hughes, Aziza Griggs, and Shannon Menarde for a roundtable discussion hosted by the PA Needs Teachers campaign and the Philadelphia Citywide Talent Coalition. We addressed Philadelphia’s teacher shortage crisis, shared innovative approaches to expand the local teaching pipeline, and discussed policies like the student teacher stipend program to make teaching more accessible. Supporting educators is critical to ensuring every student has the opportunity to thrive.

The United Nations is estimating a 44 million teacher shortage by 2030 globally.  Programs will not only need to recruit teachers, but will need to retain them.
