Semantics in Healthcare
MarkLogic
Trying to integrate all of that data and get a 360 view of healthcare consumers is a frustrating and sometimes impossible task because traditional databases were simply not designed to handle today’s disparate and changing data. This is a growing problem, and in fact, organizations report that the #1 impediment to big data success is having too many silos.

This is a growing problem, and in fact, organizations report that the #1 impediment to big data success is having too many silos.
In this webinar, specifically for the healthcare industry, we will discuss an exciting new approach to data modeling using semantics. Semantics focuses on relationships and context, and semantic data, “triples”, can be linked together to form a graph of hundreds of billions of facts and relationships. By leveraging the power of semantics inside a NoSQL database, organizations can build smarter healthcare applications and finally achieve the goal of true interoperability.
Join our healthcare and database experts as they introduce semantics and discuss how leading organizations are using semantics to better integrate their data, connect it, and search it at massive scale. In this webinar, you will learn:
How NoSQL and semantics solves healthcare challenges
How to reconcile disparate healthcare data silos
Leading examples of NoSQL and semantics

Systems and methods for medical information analysis with deidentification and reidentification
Issued US 8,898,798
A medical information navigation engine is useful in association with at least one electronic health record system. The engine decouples identifying information from clinical data from electronic health records. The clinical data includes clinical narrative having discrete data and textual data. The identifying information is stored. Additionally, the identifying information is associated with a token in the clinical data. The clinical data may then be indexed. The discrete data and the textual data in the clinical data may then be mined. Mining includes extracting at least one relevant event from the discrete data and the textual data. Next, the clinical data and identifying information may be reintegrated using the token. The event associated with the mined discrete data and textual data may then be exported. The system may also provide a validation tool for users, including clinicians, to search and view clinical data. The exported event may be used to alter treatment of a patient.
