Following last week’s European tour and the consistent theme of the Silo Tax, this article from SCMR hit home. What stood out to me: The best leaders aren’t reacting faster. They’re thinking in horizons. Visibility isn’t the differentiator anymore. Planning isn’t the differentiator anymore. Speed of coordinated action is. You can’t get there in spreadsheets. You can’t get there in static planning cycles. If you want to truly coordinate across multiple time horizons, you need a living digital twin of your network — one that allows you to run real scenario models before disruption hits. Tariff shift. Supplier exit. Capacity constraint. Demand spike. If you can’t simulate the trade-offs across cost, service, risk, and working capital… you’re still reacting.
