𝐓𝐨𝐝𝐚𝐲 𝐈 𝐒𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐞: LRU with Map (the bump trick) 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭: Turn a plain Map into a Least Recently Used (LRU) cache by treating its front as least-recent and end as most-recent. On every get/set, delete then set the key to bump it to the end. When it is over capacity, evict the first key. 𝐖𝐡𝐲: Simple, fast cache for API results, expensive computations, and Intl formatters. 𝐓𝐫𝐲 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬: Add TTL for freshness (store {value, expiresAt}), and use stale-while-revalidate. Hi, Cursor, can you please not email people asking them to pipe a script from curl into bash? Installing from a package manager at least provides some guardrails (hashes, auditability, visibility from maintainers).

It should be boring and safe. It’s 2025 —we as an industry should know how to scale CRUD apps to hundreds of thousands of queries per second safely and reliably without bugs, without performance bottlenecks, and without “excitement.”'

The real challenges, the ones that are satisfying to solve, are the ones that are considering real constraints and a team that had to agree on real compromises. Seeing this play out and see real users interact with what you've built is what really motivates designers, teams and stakeholders. Release stuff. Make real compromises. Not everything has to be perfect. Design-work that lives only in discoveries and vision pieces without real impact starts to fade away fast.
