•Launched a Design and Exploration Workshop to foster entrepreneurial innovation within under-privileged communities. In collaboration with the Entrepreneurship Cell, the participants conceived solutions to their quotidian problems; the feasible solutions were then presented to Community Development Venture Capitalists. Until this day, this exercise has yielded over 500 ideas, out of which 4 have already received seed-stage financing.

  • Web Server Based Unmanned Rover Controlled Using Hand Gestures

    -

The team engineered an IoT connected Rover fitted with an embedded system that could accurately discern ambiguous hand gestures to navigate through heavy traffic in real time.

Based on the underlying engineering, we envisioned installing the embedded system in self-driving cars, to serve as a more compact alternative for the manual emergency over-ride system (most of these cars still use a conventional design of steering wheels, braking and acceleration pedals).

Our system's design, comprising of a non-steering system, allowed users to override the Auto-drive software's capacity in case of any inadvertent disruptions.

We designed a MATLAB-based predictive system using Sugeno Fuzzy Inference System and Back-Propagation Artificial Neural Network. To put the system to the test, we inserted discrete real-world attributes of soccer teams participating in the 2014 FIFA World Cup. Adhering to the core algorithm, the system computed multiple possible scenarios and subsequently determined a likely winner.

After adequate regression testing, we realized that the system was not as sophisticated as we wanted it to be; the precision of the result was contingent on the size of the attributes dataset. Thus, to further improve the system’s efficiency, we decided to instead adopt an unsupervised machine learning approach– Kohonen Self-Organizing Maps.

  • Obstacle Detection Belt for the Visually Impaired

    -

We designed a cost-effective waist belt, comprising of an in-built proximity sensor to detect nearby objects. Being a highly user-friendly design, the belt could be worn around the user's waist.

In order to alert the user, the belt had an embedded siren that would get triggered as soon as the sensor detected an incoming object.
