So Trump just changed the H1B visa rules, and everyone's talking about how bad this is for India. I have a very different point of view. Let me break this down in simple terms. The new H1B policy now requires a minimum salary of $100,000 for visa applicants, which is a massive jump from the previous requirements. They've also made the process stricter and reduced the number of visas available. What this means is that thousands of Indian IT professionals who were planning to work in the US will now have to stay back in India, simply because most entry and mid-level positions don't pay that much. With this new rule, only senior developers and specialized roles will qualify, which cuts out a huge chunk of the traditional H1B pipeline. This is going to completely change how students plan their education. Why would someone spend ₹50-80 lakhs on an MS in the US if there's no clear path to stay and work there? The whole appeal of studying abroad was the job prospects afterward. Without that, a lot of students are going to think twice about taking those massive education loans. This means Indian B-schools and premium colleges are about to see a surge in applications like Masters' Union, Mesa School of Business. The talent pool that was getting distributed globally is now going to be concentrated right here in India. This will hit companies like Infosys, TCS, and Wipro pretty hard. Their whole business model relies on sending people to work on-site with US clients, and most of these roles were below the $100K mark. With this new salary floor, their revenue from the US market will definitely take a hit. Those engineering graduates who were dreaming of landing that first job in Silicon Valley have to settle for those ₹15-25 lakh packages. The D2C Rise - All these high-earning professionals who would have packed their bags for America are now staying in India. We're talking about people with serious disposable income, people who shop at premium brands, eat at fancy restaurants, and don't mind spending on quality products and services. You suddenly have thousands of additional consumers with ₹20+ lakh salaries who were supposed to leave the country but are now staying back. These are people with international exposure and refined tastes, exactly the kind of customers that premium Indian brands have been trying to reach. The startup ecosystem is going to benefit massively too. Instead of our best engineers going to code for Google or Microsoft in the US, they're going to stick around and maybe start their own companies or join Indian startups like Urban Company Zomato. This could be the talent injection that takes our startup scene to the next level. I just tried to see this crisis from an opportunity point of view. I would love to get roasted if i was wrong. H1B Visa fees 100,000 Dollar. Time to awake indians. No other way then to get out of delusion of development. We should focus more on economy then cultural activities going on now a days. This visa row is indication of following 1. AI is really on the way to destruct and change IT sector forever. 2. Jobs placements will be lower then expected. 3. Even if this visa fees is reduced then also there will be an uncertainty on the AI changing the world order. 4. Narratives build that now india will be great again, is false i think. 5. Only way to avoid heavy losses is to truly invest in AI research.

Time to stop spreading incorrect inferences of Trump's new order regarding H1B visas. It is important to cut through the confusion with facts, not speculation. ✅ The $100,000 annual fee applies to H1B entries (new and current holders), not current holders already in the US ✅ Current H1B holders can remain, but face restrictions if they travel and re-enter Displaced Talent ≠ Automatically harnessed Talent. Singing a celebratory note on how this is "good for India" is premature. Brain drain reversal requires intense, long term work to transform Infrastructure, Policy, Monetary and Innovation ecosystem. Things are changing in India, but there's still a lot of work required. 💡 Talent is Borderless and Fluid. There are many other countries, actively courting tech talent. If the US becomes prohibitively expensive or unwelcoming, talent will migrate elsewhere. ❤️ Spare a thought to families caught mid-travel, professionals with established lives, students planning their futures. A question for Delhivery's tech team — can someone clarify your NDR StatusCodes? We're building a logistics aggregation platform and integrating deeply with Delhivery's webhook and tracking APIs. We've hit a genuine confusion that we can't find answers to anywhere — not in the API docs, not in the Help Center, not in the Developer Portal. The question is simple: What do your EOD StatusCodes officially mean? Your NDR API documentation lists these codes as valid for re-attempt actions: EOD-74, EOD-15, EOD-104, EOD-43, EOD-86, EOD-11, EOD-69, EOD-6, EOD-16, ST-108 But nowhere — absolutely nowhere — is there a public reference that maps these codes to their actual meanings. And here's why this matters: We assumed (based on available references) that: EOD-11 = "Address Incomplete / Incorrect" EOD-86 = "Door Locked / Premises Closed" But your own webhooks tell a different story: StatusCode: EOD-11 Instructions: "Consignee Unavailable" StatusCode: EOD-86 Instructions: "Not attempted" So which is it? Is EOD-11 about address issues or consignee availability? Is EOD-86 about door locked or just a generic non-attempt? Does EOD-86 always mean "Door Locked" but the Instructions field carries the delivery agent's actual remark? What we need: An official StatusCode-to-Reason mapping — a simple table with code + meaning Clarification on the relationship between StatusCode and Instructions — is the code the category and Instructions the agent's remark? Or should they match? Is this mapping published anywhere we might have missed? How I Made Decisions at Amazon In 5.5 years at Amazon, I made thousands of decisions. Some were small. Scope tweaks. Deadline shifts. Meeting structure changes. Some were big. Launch calls. Escalations. Resource tradeoffs. Risk acceptance. And here’s what I learned: Indecision is usually more expensive than a wrong decision. Amazon forced me to build a decision framework…not rely on instinct alone. Here’s how I approached it: 1/ I asked: Is this a one-way door or a two-way door? ↳ A one-way door decision is hard to reverse ↳ Long-term architectural changes ↳ Big resourcing bets ↳ Major customer commitments These required deep dive, multiple perspectives, and slower motion. ↳ A two-way door decision is reversible ↳ Pilot launches ↳ Process changes ↳ Messaging experiments These required speed. Most people treat two-way doors like one-way doors. That’s how velocity dies. 2/ I defined the real risk before acting ↳ What’s the worst-case outcome? ↳ How recoverable is it? ↳ What’s the cost of waiting? Often the cost of delay was greater than the cost of being imperfect 3/ I gathered just enough signal…not perfect clarity ↳ 70% confidence was often enough ↳ The remaining 30% came from moving ↳ Over-analysis was a hidden tax on momentum 4/ I wrote my thinking down ↳ Framing the decision in writing exposed weak assumptions ↳ It also made it easier for others to pressure test it ↳ Writing sharpened judgment 5/ I owned the outcome…even when it missed ↳ If a decision didn’t land, I didn’t blame the inputs ↳ I asked: What did I miss? What pattern did I ignore? ↳ Decisions compound…so does accountability The biggest shift Amazon gave me was this: Decisiveness is a leadership trait. Suggestions for H1B friends who are already their in US and not immediately affected by this 100K H1B fee: You are not safe just because you don't immediately need a renewal or travel outside of US. Companies will eventually make policies that impact all H1Bs. . You are lucky as you have some time to execute the below suggestions to come out ahead, while you still can: - Dispose all your assets in the US while there is still time. Do NOT delay this. - Start with hard assets like houses. Dont wait to maximise the profit. US housing market can collapse any time and H1B sell off can trigger it. The first movers will get out fine. Accept the first good offer you get and move to a small rental. Sell off useless furniture. - If your family members are dependents, send them back to India asap. Schooling can be worked out. - Buy an apartment or plot of land in India if you don't have one already. - Sell off expensive cars and get a used cheap car. - Move money from US stock market and invest in Gold ETFs in India. Unlike US ETFs, Indian ETFs have equivalent physical gold. This will protect your investment from US-INR conversion volatility. - Get out of crypto. Holding crypto while in India is going to be a regulatory hassle. - Avoid paying for expensive tuition in the US if your kids are not US citizens or expected to be GC holders by the time they graduate. There are good private colleges in India they can go to. - Apply for a role in GCC in India if your company has an Indian GCC or apply for roles in Dubai or Singapore or other GCCs in India. Being stuck in the US with no path to GC and unable to change jobs or visit your family is mental torture. Don't prolong the suffering. Wisdom is knowing when to cut the losses. .
