There’s a persistent myth in regulated labs: You can move fast or be compliant, not both. In practice, the opposite is true. Manual systems feel fast… until: - Reviews pile up - Errors require rework - Audits interrupt real work Speed that isn’t repeatable isn’t speed. It’s borrowed time. The fastest teams I’ve seen don’t rush. They design systems that don’t slow down under pressure. Compliance, done right, is a speed advantage.

Creating scripts might be worth it for things agents can't reliably do through prompting. I got this from an interview with Peter Steinberger (OpenClaw Founder) where he mentioned that CLIs work better for agents than MCPs. That stuck with me. If I can't get something to work through prompting, maybe I should just build a script the agent can call instead. Here's where it clicked for me. I tried getting my agent to watch our BugBot process in our CI and wait for it to finish. It takes about 10 minutes to run, but it's worth the wait. It catches really good bugs. The problem was that the agent just wouldn't reliably wait. It would either move on too early or stop checking altogether. So I created a script to do the watching. Now the agent just gets notified when it's done. Prompting is flexible. Scripts are reliable. Use both where they make sense.

Vibe-coding is real - and it bites. The agent isn’t the issue - the handoff is. With coding agents and AI-first IDEs, it’s easy to slip into “accept / next / ship.” Don’t take AI as gospel - sounding smart ≠ being right. The model sounds confident, so we assume it’s correct. Then you spend the weekend cleaning up its mess. 🧹 Counter-play: 1️⃣ Plan → review → re-plan Lose the autopilot. When agents run unchecked, you lose the micro course-corrections you’d do while coding. Don’t outsource judgment. 2️⃣ Audit the diff, not the demo Hunt for duplicate libs, parallel flows, and context misses. Confidence ≠ correctness. 3️⃣ Front-load your standards State best practices and legacy constraints up front. “Universal” guidelines don’t fit a lived-in codebase. 4️⃣ AI is not your architect Structured and articulate ≠ smarter than your team. Human planning beats vibing with a bot for maintainability. 5️⃣ Right tool, right fight Don’t build a rocket to deliver pizza. If the use case is simple, keep the solution simple. You still own debugging and long-term care. 6️⃣ Task, not project Feed agents one atomic step at a time. Require a diff + justification each step. 7️⃣ Accountability One human signs the PR as the responsible adult. AI can’t own production.
