The Senate Banking Committee votes Thursday on killing stablecoin yield. And they might kill the Clartiy Act with it - the 𝘮𝘰𝘴𝘵 𝘪𝘮𝘱𝘰𝘳𝘵𝘢𝘯𝘵 US digital asset legislation. This vote isn’t really about “consumer protection.” It’s about who captures the spread on money. Stablecoins exposed how fragile the zero-yield deposit model is. Paying users market rates threatens legacy bank margins — and suddenly it’s a systemic risk. The irony is striking: China is adding yield to the digital yuan while the U.S. debates banning it. One side is modernizing money; the other risks freezing innovation through protectionism. If the Clarity Act collapses, the real loss won’t be 4.5% yield — it will be regulatory certainty and U.S. leadership in digital finance.

Hot take: lot's of #LP's are growing underwhelmed with traditional venture investing. 💰 Fees are high given the level of engagement with the company operators. ❓ Access is opaque - LP's are unclear on the portco operations and outcomes. Outcomes are scattered - power law investing can certainly work, but many feel that venture capital investing is just a numbers game. There's another way. 🇺🇸 The U.S. Senate moves on crypto regulation The Senate Agriculture Committee has released its long-awaited draft for a crypto market structure bill, aiming to clarify which agency (CFTC or SEC) oversees digital asset trading. The proposal sets the stage for joint rulemaking, clearer regulatory roles, and aims to address gaps around DeFi and overall market structure. 🔹 The draft gives the CFTC (Commodity Futures Trading Commission), which regulates derivatives and commodity markets, more authority over spot digital asset markets. 🔹 The SEC (Securities and Exchange Commission), responsible for protecting investors and overseeing securities, would continue to regulate tokens considered securities. 🔹 Several sections remain open (coordination with SEC, DeFi treatment, etc.). 🔹 Timing remains uncertain, with votes likely not before early 2026. While still a draft, this marks a major step toward regulatory clarity in the U.S., something both institutional investors and builders have been waiting for. The survey found that 81% of Americans cited artificial intelligence (AI) as contributing to more sophisticated financial crimes, with social media (75%) and the dark web (73%) playing key roles in the equation.  The regulatory moat just turned into a bridge. For years, "Regulatory Uncertainty" was the favorite shield of every TradFi compliance officer. It was the reason not to build, not to pilot, and not to touch on-chain assets. The CLARITY Act didn't just split jurisdiction between the SEC and CFTC it dissolved that shield. Now that we have a legal definition for "Digital Commodities" and a clear path to "Mature Blockchain" certification, the conversation in the boardroom is shifting from "Is this legal?" to "Why are we still settling T+2?" The risk has flipped. The danger isn't moving on-chain anymore. The danger is explaining to your shareholders why you're still paying for 1980s infrastructure when the law now explicitly supports 2025 technology. The green light is on. Adding my take: this year, the focus for RWA tokenization will move from products to infrastructure, with regulated issuance, custody, settlement, and distribution integrated into a single system.
