Activities and Societies: Thesis advisor to 10 Ph.D. students: five in the Computer Science Dept., and five in the Electrical and Computer Engineering Dept. I taught Advanced Computer Architecture, Advanced Computer Design, Distributed Systems, Hardware/Software Co-Design--attended by CS Ph.D. students and by ECE graduate students. I created, obtained the funding for, and led the largest real-time research project in the world at that time (Ph.D. students, faculty, post-docs, visiting scholars, staff).
Faculty member in both the Computer Science Department, and the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department.

Implementing Distributable Real-Time Threads in the Linux Kernel: Programming Interface and Scheduling Support
Proceedings of the ACM 27th Symposium on Applied Computing
ABSTRACT: We present an implementation of Real-Time CORBA's distributable threads (DTs) as a first-class, end-to-end real-time programming and scheduling abstraction in the Linux kernel. We use Ingo Molnar's PREEMPT RT kernel patch, which enables nearly complete kernel pre-emption, and add local (real-time) scheduling support to the Linux kernel, atop which we build DT scheduling support. We implement DTs using Linux's threading capabilities. Our implementation of a suite of independent and…
ABSTRACT: We present an implementation of Real-Time CORBA's distributable threads (DTs) as a first-class, end-to-end real-time programming and scheduling abstraction in the Linux kernel. We use Ingo Molnar's PREEMPT RT kernel patch, which enables nearly complete kernel pre-emption, and add local (real-time) scheduling support to the Linux kernel, atop which we build DT scheduling support. We implement DTs using Linux's threading capabilities. Our implementation of a suite of independent and collaborative DT schedulers confirm the effectiveness of our implementation.

See publicationList of about 150 selected professional computer science research papers published in IEEE and ACM journals and conference proceedings. The list is usually out of date. My primary website is in flux, undergoing a major renovation. If you have a DoD Secret or higher clearance, you know where to request access to my classified documents. Meanwhile, a subset of public ones is available at http://www.researchgate.net/profile/E_Jensen/publications.

I am a consultant, primarily for classified national defense engineering (I have an active DoD security clearance). I work at every level of an enterprise from engineers to Board of Directors. I do business development in support of the technical work. I work anywhere in the world. My usual work hours (when not at a client site) are 8:00 A.M. to 8:00 PM EST (GMT-5) seven days a week.

I tried retiring from consulting in 2013 and again in 2014 (lol) except for requests to support critical classified national defense projects. Now it's 2019 and at times I am still being dragged away from playing with my toys to deal with important DoD needs.
I continue writing my book "An Introduction to Fundamental Principles of Dynamic Real-Time Computing Systems," and to update the early release preview of the book on my profile page.
