#AI advanced analytics are now being deployed to help Midcontinent Independent System Operator (MISO) anticipate issues earlier, shorten planning cycles, and optimize system operations. MISO is a major regional transmission operator (RTO) in North America, operating across 15 U.S. states and parts of Manitoba, Canada, serving approximately 42 million people. It manages one of the largest bulk power systems in North America and recently approved a $22 billion regional transmission expansion plan, which includes more than 1,800 miles of new high-voltage transmission lines to support load growth.

Amazing development for #SustainableAIInfrastructure and #WaterSecurity globally. In the longer term, I see this leading edge technology positively impacting billions of lives worldwide, with governments not forced to choose between #WaterSecurity for its people vs #AI for progress. This could also progress beyond #WaterNeutral to #WaterPositive Data Centers and other #WaterPositive #Industries by leveraging #WasteHeat and #Circularity to benefit large communities surrounding such industries. This technology should work particularly well across the #GCC, #IndianSubContinent, #SouthEastAsia and #Africa where governments and industries grapple with optimizing resource utilization without negatively impacting too much the quality of life for its vast populations. Kudos and best wishes to the science and engineering teams working on this!

33% of all planned data center capacity will be powered by BTM generation. The biggest question for BTM power is this: What will happen to the BTM power in the future? Will they eventually be connected to the grid? There are 4 options. 1️⃣ Generation remainds islanded + permanently provide primary power to the colocated data center 2️⃣ Generation remains islanded + permanently provide backup power to the colocated data center once the DC gets grid connected 3️⃣ Generation gets connected to the grid and supply power to the grid (of course, once the data center gets grid connection) 4️⃣ Generation relocates to a different data center / other non-grid connected source of demand and provide BTM power (again, once the original data center gets grid power. And this will only really be possible if the generator is mobile) Curious to hear everyone’s views on what is the most likely scenario of BTM generation.
