Last week, State Senator Saud Anwar visited Orion Protective Services to learn more about our commitment to supporting every member of our team, including veterans and active-duty service members. Since our founding in 2010, Orion has been a veteran-owned company focused on fostering growth and opportunity for all employees as they build their careers. During his visit, Senator Anwar was introduced to our Boots to Badges program, which addresses one of the key challenges veterans, active duty servicemembers and reservists face: the cost of getting a professional security guard license. In Connecticut, these fees—including fingerprinting, background checks, and passport photos—add up to $160. In Massachusetts, the state requirement there is a $40 Criminal Offender Record Information (CORI) check. Our program reimburses these expenses for veterans and service members who commit to working with us for at least three months. Orion President and CEO Edward Ramsdell emphasized the unique strengths veterans contribute to the security industry: “We recognize the immense value that military experience brings to the security field. The discipline, leadership, and commitment veterans offer make them an excellent fit for this work. By reimbursing these costs, we’re helping them move forward without financial strain as they start the next phase of their careers.” Senator Anwar called the meeting “powerful” and praised the program’s focus on building bridges between military service and civilian opportunity. We’re grateful for the opportunity to work alongside leaders who share our dedication to supporting those who have served.

The Government has posted the second draft Request for Proposal for the Radford Army Ammunition Plant competition to SAM.gov. With Draft RFP #2, the Government is actively seeking feedback on several key areas of the draft RFP, specifically Sections C, L, and M and on requirements related to Nitrocellulose Fines and a facility reset plan. Feedback will influence and finalize the evaluation criteria and scope for the Final RFP.
