Sharp rise in demand with skilled labor needs for grid connectivity a greater area of potential constraint than generation capacity buildout. Generational growth in power demand is likely to have broad implications for a labor network already facing strain from aging and a limited pipeline of skilled labor. To meet our US/Europe Utilities teams' power demand growth estimates for 2023-2030, we estimate an additional ~510K US jobs (power & grids) and ~250K EU jobs (power) will be required. This new labor demand comes within a backdrop of an already tight labor market, adding potential constraints to the rate at which power demand can grow. We see the greatest potential labor constraint from the skilled labor needed for electricity transmission & interconnections (207K new US jobs, implying 22% growth), roles that require significantly greater skilling (3-4 years of training) amid an aging workforce. In the US, there are ~45K active apprentices in the energy sector (e.g., electricians, lineworkers, powergrid technicians) according to the US Department of Labor. To achieve our estimate for transmission labor and offset retirements, we believe the run rate of active energy sector apprentices may need to increase by about 20K-30K. While we believe our power demand growth outlook (driven not just by AI/data centers) is achievable, the need for transmission and distribution skilled labor represents a key risk.

Versogen and InSolare Energy Partner to Advance AEM Electrolyser Technology in India Mumbai, India and Newark, Delaware, USA -- InSolare Energy Limited (IEL), one of the leading renewable energy and Net zero solutions provider in India, has entered into a technology transfer partnership and strategic collaboration with Versogen, Inc., a U.S.-based pioneer in Anion Exchange Membrane (AEM) technology, to jointly develop and commercialize advanced AEM stack and electrolyser solutions for the Indian green hydrogen market. The collaboration marks an important milestone in InSolare’s long-term roadmap to expand into emerging clean energy technologies and support India’s transition towards low-carbon and sustainable energy systems. InSolare Energy will license Versogen’s stack intellectual property, know-how, source key materials and design expertise for stack development in India, while Versogen will provide its advanced technology, technical expertise, and specialized materials to drive the project forward, together accelerating the development of high-performance AEM stacks and electrolysers, strengthening India’s green hydrogen ecosystem. Purpose of the Collaboration The agreement focuses on accelerating the AEM stack development, aimed at creating high-performance electrolysers tailored for the Indian market. This collaboration leverages Versogen’s AEM stack technology, combined with InSolare’s execution strength and market presence, to enable cost-effective, large-scale green hydrogen production. InSolare Energy plans to establish a 250–300 MW manufacturing facility in India, scalable up to 1 GW focused on AEM electrolysers, leveraging advanced technologies to meet domestic demand as well as cater to select international markets. The proposed agreement is aligned with InSolare’s strategic vision to strengthen its presence across the green hydrogen value chain and supports Versogen’s objective of expanding its cutting-edge AEM technology beyond the U.S. market. Alignment with India’s National Green Hydrogen Mission (NGHM) Targets The collaboration is closely aligned with the objectives of India’s National Green Hydrogen Mission, which aims to establish the country as a global hub for green hydrogen production, utilization, and export. By strengthening domestic electrolyser manufacturing capacity and deploying advanced AEM technology, this partnership will directly contribute to: Reducing the cost of green hydrogen and its derivatives. Developing indigenous cutting-edge stack and electrolyser technology Supporting the government’s target of 5 MMT of annual green hydrogen production by 2030.
