My toxic marketing hot takes 😌 1. I've never ever met someone who has Salesforce figured out and fully working including engineers at Salesforce. 2. No legitimate business uses GoHighLevel. It's sold the same way as LuLaRoe and Cutco and used almost exclusively by grifters and influencers. 3. Easily 50% of all DSPs are total bullshit and just MFA feeders. 4. Google made search shitty on purpose because they knew they had a monopoly and tried to engineer a way to increase avails per user search by being annoying. 5. AI content doesn't actually grow brands, it just makes the otherwise tedious process of tagging and bagging your bottom funnel possible by shit posting ads that claim credit, easy. Bonus: The "just add this super pixel and you'll get 10x ROAS" or "vibe code this site to get $1m in sales this month" gurus and hucksters are the marketing equivalent of the people who convince you a pill bought on a basic Shopify store will make you lose weight or investing in a penny stock will make you a millionaire. Shut the front door, Marketo has a new email designer. 👀 This week was my first hands on experience building a branded design using the new drag and drop interface, and let’s just say, it’s a big step forward. Here’s my quick take on what worked well and what still needs some love: ✨ What I liked: → Flexible layout options with a variety of column structures → Truly drag and drop, no need to touch HTML 🙌 → The ability to render content exclusively on desktop or mobile (great for images that don’t scale well) 🤔 What I didn’t love: → Designed emails don’t appear in email performance reports. You have to view performance through the program dashboard → Once created, emails can’t be moved to another program → Saved templates show up in Design Studio, but I couldn’t access them when creating a new email from Marketing Activities (possible bug?) While it’s not quite there YET in terms of UX, brand governance, and collaboration, it’s a solid version one from Marketo. Looking forward to seeing how they evolve it. Being able to pull historical emails pre-Hubspot adoption into your CRM? Imagine being able to have your properties for existing contacts populate based on those rather than having to track them down or re-capture the values. Segmentation continues to become more and more easy with the new features Hubspot rolls out. The sooner you get on board with it, the sooner you'll see results.

Hot take to start the week for my RevOps folks: Manually updating reporting is actually worth your time. As we see these gurus parroting about "Agentic AI" solving all their analytics problems, a new subtle problem is springing up en masse: Hallucinations. When you build an automated tool to enrich - it purely focuses on completing the task by any means necessary. Even when that means making up data if the constraints aren't perfect. You could have completely fabricated data polluting your pipeline, and guiding real decisions until it's too late to fix. Plus - having a real view of your analytics data as you type those boring numbers into the spreadsheet gives you a real pulse of how the company is doing. That's the subtle experience and deeper knowledge of performance you're reinforcing, rather than "yeah, it's probably working" and trusting the sales machine to keep chugging - unguided. So yes, grab that morning coffee and update the spreadsheet. Future you will be thankful (and caffeinated). #RevOps #SalesStrategy #JustTypeIt #Coffee:)
