A focused $6.3 million marketing campaign is underway to rebuild Maui’s tourism and restore traveler confidence following last summer’s wildfires. The initiative is a coordinated effort led by HTA and executed by HVCB in partnership with state government and private sector stakeholders. 🔹 Campaign Highlights: • Wholesale program: Travel partners like ALG/Apple Vacations, Classic Vacations, Costco Travel and Expedia are offering at least 20% off Maui vacation packages—matched dollar-for-dollar by HTA funds. • “Maui Week” media blitz: A nationwide media takeover across 15 key U.S. markets, showcasing Maui’s beauty and experiences. • Online and PR strategies tailored to convert intent into bookings. 🔹 Why the delay matters: The campaign launch was moved to summer to optimize impact—but that also means stakeholders are eager to assess early results. Visitor arrivals to Maui remain down ~21% versus pre-pandemic; every week matters for local businesses, jobs, and the overall recovery. 🔹 As HVCB CEO Dr. Aaron J. Salā emphasizes: “With urgency and clear intention, we are working to deliver meaningful results for Maui's families and local businesses. This campaign is an important initial step… shaping the way we welcome people into relationship with Hawai‘i in ways that honor both community and place.” 🔹 What this means for HHA members: • Expect increased inquiries and booking windows—align your staffing and inventory accordingly. • Encourage partnerships with travel wholesalers to tap into matching funds. • Leverage HVCB’s “Maui Week” momentum in your own marketing and distribution.
