This is a “Why didn’t this happen before?” kind of article. Certainly the two partners are mutually dependent….the OEMs on the Detroit Auto Show floor need a strong bench of engineers and designers generated thru SAE’s educational programs (and professional development and industry standard activities) and SAE needs a successful Detroit Auto Show to generate dealer showroom traffic and media to help strengthen the OEM financials. I encourage everyone to read R.J.’s article and then explore using SAE’s inspiring K-12 classroom programs, engaging collegiate design and scholarship opportunities to build the industry’s talent pipeline. And, of course, mark the Show’s industry and media days on your calendars.

Stellantis plans $388M parts distribution ‘Megahub’ in metro Detroit. The facility will be staffed by nearly 500 UAW workers once operational in 2027, according to the company. The new facility in Van Buren Township is set to be operational by 2027, “further advancing the efficiency and sustainability” of Stellantis’ Mopar service parts distribution network, according to the release. The facility will be key in the automaker’s “long-term plan to modernize and centralize its service parts distribution network”, the company said. The 2023 collective bargaining agreement between #Stellantis and the United Auto Workers included the automaker’s plan to overhaul its parts distribution centers. https://lnkd.in/gfTzmjMq #automanufacturing #tariffs #customscompliance
