  • The Ledger by Douglass

    - Present

Campaign finance records, voting histories, and congressional disclosures have always been technically public — but translating them into something a working person can actually use has never been straightforward, and the people who benefit from that complexity have had little incentive to change it. Campaign finance records, voting histories, and congressional disclosures have always been technically public — but translating them into something a working person can actually use has never been straightforward, and the people who benefit from that complexity have had little incentive to change it. The Ledger exists to change it anyway.

Enter any U.S. politician and the platform draws on live FEC.gov and Congress.gov data to map their donor relationships, industry ties, and voting record — not as a summary of what they claim to stand for, but as a picture of where the money actually goes and what it tends to buy. The analysis is powered by Claude Sonnet 4.6 via the Anthropic API, grounded in primary sources, and designed to be readable by anyone regardless of their political background or prior knowledge of how campaign finance works.

The platform is subscriber-funded and cooperatively owned, a structure chosen deliberately to prevent the conflicts of interest it was built to expose. There is no advertising, no venture capital with a growth mandate, and no editorial agenda beyond the financial record itself.

Built with Python, FastAPI, React, and LlamaIndex — developed in Chicago, founded March 2026.

Follow the money. Read the record.

  • Movie Script Generator

    -

Developed a Markov chain model in Python based on a movie script, inputted by a User, to generate new sentences and display the new script back to the User.

  • Handwritten-Digit Recognizer

    -

Created a logistic regression model and a neural network using Python and matplotlib to classify images of single handwritten digits using pixel intensities as inputs and output which digits the images display
