Is your team disagreeing on details like implementation or scoping decisions? Maybe the disagreement really stems from: * Lack of a shared strategy * Lack of shared understanding of that strategy * Misaligned goals * Different time horizons * Lack of a shared decision-making framework My first instinct is often to concentrate on explaining all of my reasoning in detail, but I'm trying to be better about zooming out and stating my assumptions and values more clearly.

When a roadmap assumption turned out to be a mirage, the real lesson was about data vs intuition. We were gearing up to launch a compliance‑heavy feature for a large government client. The sales team was convinced the buyer would sign off next quarter because the RFP checklist was almost complete. I built a high‑level timeline, shared it with leadership, and moved the team into execution mode. Two weeks in, the stakeholder who actually uses the system raised a quiet concern: the UI would require a workflow change that none of the current operators had trained for. No one had asked that question before. The risk was hidden in the gap between the buyer’s procurement team and the end‑user’s day‑to‑day. Instead of pushing the timeline, I pulled the latest user interview notes into Claude and asked it to surface any contradictions between the procurement checklist and the operator feedback. Within minutes, it highlighted a phrase about “manual approvals” that directly conflicted with our proposed automation. The AI didn’t replace the conversation; it gave me a concrete piece of evidence to bring to the next stakeholder meeting. Armed with that insight, I called a short sync with the product owner, the compliance lead, and the operator champion. We re‑prioritized the feature, added a phased rollout, and allocated time for a quick training sprint. The launch slipped by a month, but the client signed the contract with confidence because we had addressed the hidden friction early. The outcome? A feature that actually gets used, a client that stays on the platform, and a team that learned to ask the right “who will use it” question before the next roadmap is painted. The takeaway isn’t about AI magic. It’s about treating every assumption as a hypothesis and giving it a quick, data‑backed sanity check before it becomes a costly commitment.
