Recognition is appreciated, but for me, it always comes back to the work. Small-cap investing requires patience. It requires discipline through cycles where headlines shift and leadership rotates. Want to “wow investors”? Start by removing surprises. Most leadership teams can explain AUM, flows, and performance all day long. Following on from my post just now on why ABS matters when conditions tighten, this week’s quarterly update from TwentyFour Asset Management LLP adds some useful real-world colour. One point that stood out was the growing evidence of stress in parts of private credit, particularly in pockets of the US auto-lending market. The challenges faced by Tricolor are a good example of how pressure tends to emerge quietly at first: tighter refinancing conditions, slower adjustments to higher funding costs, and increasing scrutiny of underwriting assumptions. None of this suggests a broad market break. But it does reinforce a theme that has been coming up repeatedly in client conversations. When liquidity tightens, structure starts to matter more than headline yield, and the way risk is accessed can be just as important as the risk itself. That is where ABS continues to play an important role. Familiar underlying exposures, but with transparency, legal structure, and the ability to adjust positioning as conditions evolve. Not a replacement for private credit, but a useful counterbalance as parts of that market come under pressure. If a TLD/ccTLD/gTLD aspires to be among the best, it should take notes from the one that consistently leads the way (".com").

I am excited to share that Oak Hill Capital has entered into an agreement to acquire Hunter Communications in an effort to accelerate their fiber-to-the-premises (FTTP) network expansion plan in Oregon and Northern California. Hunter is Oregon’s largest privately owned fiber-optic internet provider and currently provides more than 3,000 route miles of fiber network through approximately 100,000 locations and to more than 25,000 customers. This marks our 22nd investment in broadband communications, an area that we’ve been investing in for over 30 years and one that we believe is currently seeing increased demand, particularly for the types of tier II and tier III markets Hunter targets. With this acquisition, our digital infrastructure portfolio will consist of eight FTTP platforms that are active across 35 states, passing approximately five million locations with fiber and building more than one million new locations per year.
