Ontology Pipeline in action. How do you implement a semantic system? Jenna Jordan highlights some ideas and methods towards realizing the Ontology Pipeline using dbt Labs. “Simply by allowing you to define terms, you get a controlled vocabulary. By being able to ref terms to other terms, you get a thesaurus. If you add hierarchical relationships to those refs, you get a taxonomy. The last step to an ontology is evolving generic "refs" into ref/relationship types! Is this how we can inject knowledge engineering into the dbt flow?” Jenna hits on the all important work of definitions. We must define elements, concepts and things within a system to make for meaningful semantics. The Ontology Pipeline is iterative, building blocks that, when sequenced, assembles data and information to manifest a rich, semantic knowledge infrastructure. Ever tried to launch a marketplace on a no-code platform, only to realize—right before a major client deal closes—that your app is allergic to complexity and compliance? Welcome to my week as Fractional CTO. Here’s what happened: A Detroit-based electrification startup spent two years building their app in Bubble. Weeks before launch, their biggest client asked for SOC II compliance and multi-user roles. Bubble, meanwhile, was busy tripping over its own shoelaces. Enter Keiboarder (that’s me, Edie). I was brought in to untangle the mess, keep the deal alive, and make sure the client didn’t run for the hills. We mapped out what the app actually needed to do (spoiler: a lot more than Bubble could handle), documented enough SOC II effort to keep the client happy (for now), and set the company up with a real plan for scalable tech. The result? The deal didn’t die, the client stuck around, and the company finally had a roadmap that didn’t involve praying Bubble would magically become enterprise-grade. Breaking: Claude Code just introduced Sub-Agents You can run your own custom Agents. Using the /agent command Based on an agent file format, written in markdown. Custom system prompts, custom tools. Making it very easy to create your own agents. Previously I made a REST api for Claude Code, meaning so I could script things from a browser. Now, I can create teams of sub agents, working together on a problem.
