22,000 MA/MAPD members in GA are losing coverage Oct 1, 2025. Sonder Health Plans was placed into receivership by the state. Most of the members are in and around Atlanta with the highest membership residing in: Fulton, Gwinnet, DeKalb, Cobb and Clayton counties. The plan types impacted are: -> Individual non-SNP - 11,500 -> C-SNP - 6,500 -> D-SNP - 4,000 So, what happened? They've been the fastest growth plan in the Atlanta area this past year, increasing enrollment nearly ~19,000 since Dec. 24. While Humana, CVS decreased enrollment this year, Sonder picked up a number of those members. Now, the company is insolvent and after a period of supervision, the state decided "that continued operation of Sonder Health Plans was not possible without putting policyholders and providers at risk." Impacted individuals have until Sept 30th to find a new plan. If members don't choose a new MA/MAPD plan they will be automatically enrolled in Original Medicare. Health insurance is about to get harder for North Carolinians. The NCDOI just approved an average 27.5% increase in premiums for 2026. For families, that could mean dropping coverage. For businesses, it could mean cutting benefits or absorbing higher costs. We’re already seeing schools in Forsyth County remove dental coverage just to balance budgets. The legislature and Florida employers should consider making something like this an employee benefit similar to a HSA. Pre-tax dollars to a specific type of account to cover storm deductibles and other noncovered catastrophe expenses.
