How does a multi-agent world powered by Agentic Process Fabric lead to the autonomous enterprise? Don Schuerman, CTO of Pegasystems, brought this to life with one of the most memorable moments of #PegaWorld: a live drumline analogy featuring “DrumBot”. It was the perfect metaphor for how #AgenticAI and orchestration can elevate business workflows from individual effort to synchronized, enterprise-wide performance. Each drummer represented an AI agent; powerful on their own, but chaotic without shared rhythm. Don’s message was clear: real transformation happens when AI agents work in harmony, following a shared set of rules with your “musical notation.” That’s what Pega’s Blueprint and Agentic Process Fabric enable: orchestrated collaboration between AI and humans, delivering outcomes with consistency, governance, and impact. “This musical notation is your workflow through rhythm... Blueprint is the agentic composer.” My POV: We are shifting from automation to orchestration where AI agents don’t just execute tasks but work together with awareness, purpose, and predictability. This theme echoed throughout PegaWorld Day 2 keynote: ✅ Customer success stories brought real-world validation: Rabobank shared how they’re fighting financial crime at scale using AI-powered case management, reducing fraud and improving compliance. Verizon showed how agentic AI orchestrates billions of interactions and turning customer service into proactive, personalized care. ✅ Blueprint and Infinity 25 showed us what practical AI transformation looks like, converting legacy workflows into intuitive, agent-driven systems. ✅ We saw live demos where document agents, knowledge agents, and coach agents collaborated in real time to process complex use cases like loan applications. ✅ Responsible AI remained front and center. Rabobank detailed their Responsible AI framework, while Dr. Rob Walker stressed the importance of keeping AI “in harness,” ensuring that intelligence doesn’t outpace integrity. And through it all, the message was consistent: we may not need flying cars, we need grounded innovation that works in the real world. Day 2 delivered on that promise. I am happy to share that our research paper has been accepted for publication by IEEE. The paper focuses on a challenge we have seen repeatedly across organizations: scaling machine learning from experimentation to real, sustainable products is still difficult, even with mature teams and modern platforms. In this work, we examine the key inhibitors to ML product scalability and highlight how enterprise IT architecture plays a foundational role in addressing them. The paper also proposes a Machine Learning Product Development Lifecycle that brings together architecture, engineering practices, and organizational design, instead of treating ML as an isolated initiative. From an Enterprise Architecture and technology leadership perspective, a few insights stood out clearly: • Scaling ML is an architecture problem before it becomes a tooling problem • Lifecycle thinking is critical to avoid fragmented pipelines and fragile systems • Architecture must evolve to support continuous learning, governance, and integration with enterprise platforms This research reinforced for me that the role of Enterprise Architecture is expanding, especially as AI and ML move from pilots into core business capabilities.
