We all love a big build story, so here are the stats. 🏗️ 10GW total new gas capacity 📍 5.2GW – Project Anderson (ERCOT, Texas) 📍 4.3GW – Southwest Pennsylvania (PJM) 💰 $33BN combined investment 🌐 Backed by US–Japan $550BN trade agreement ⚛️ +3GW of SMRs planned in TN & AL (GE Vernova Hitachi) The projects form part of NextEra’s wider “hub strategy”: 🏗️ ~30 hubs in development 🎯 Targeting 40 total ⚡ Designed to accelerate delivery and reduce execution risk On the demand side, the numbers are just as big: 📈 20GW+ of interest from large load users (primarily hyperscalers) 🎯 “15 by 35” – 15GW of new generation for data centres by 2035 🤝 Direct partnerships with Google and Meta Genuine question. 💡 Daily Insight US energy agencies prepare for shutdown as White House layoff threat looms US energy agencies are bracing for a potential government shutdown on October 1, with contingency plans to furlough staff and scale back operations. The White House has intensified concerns by threatening permanent layoffs, a shift from previous shutdowns where workers were eventually compensated. Agencies including FERC, EPA, DOE, NRC, and the Interior Department are preparing to retain only minimal staff for critical functions like grid reliability, nuclear safety, and emergency response, while new permits, grants, and leasing activities would largely be suspended. For the E/CTRM market, a prolonged shutdown could mean regulatory delays, stalled project approvals, and disruptions in environmental oversight, all of which add layers of uncertainty to trading strategies and risk management. With infrastructure and energy policy already under pressure, the threat of reduced government capacity amplifies volatility across commodities markets.

The Hugh Brinson Pipeline is a intrastate natural gas project set to connect processing facilities near Midland in West Texas with existing pipeline infrastructure south of Dallas–Fort Worth. Beyond strengthening the state’s energy network, the project is expected to create a wave of jobs, from construction crews, welders, and heavy equipment operators to engineers, safety specialists, and project managers. Once operational, it will also support ongoing maintenance, inspection, and supply chain roles in the area.
