You can send InMail messages to leads on Sales Navigator by using the InMail credits provided with your subscription. InMails are private messages that allow you to message any LinkedIn user without requiring an introduction or contact details, so you can engage with potential leads and facilitate conversations to enhance your sales efforts.

Prerequisites:
- Available InMail credits - To send an InMail, you’ll need InMail credits. Your current credit count will display in the compose window. Learn more
- Optional: Log message to CRM - You can log messages to your CRM if you have an Advanced Plus subscription, your admin has turned on InMail CRM logging, your personal CRM setting is turned on, and the lead you’re messaging is added to your CRM.
To send an InMail to a lead:

Sign in to Sales Navigator. If you have a Sales Navigator subscription, InMails can only be sent from Sales Navigator, not LinkedIn.com.

Click Messaging in the top menu, then click the
Edit icon in the top left to begin drafting your message.Here's a tip
You can also message a lead by going to their Sales Navigator profile and clicking Message. -
If the lead's profile is locked, you’ll need to click Unlock full profile before you can message them.

Add a subject line (200 character limit) and enter your message (1900 character limit).
Here's a tip
Personalizing your message can increase your response rate. The right rail displays your lead’s profile information and meaningful conversation insights such as common experiences and details about your lead's organization. -
Optional: Click the
Edit icon next to your signature to edit it. Your personalized signature will then be applied to all new messages you compose. Signatures are limited to 150 characters, which are counted in the total number of message characters. -
Optional: Click the
Attach icon to add an attachment up to 200 MB. -
Click Send to send your message. You can also click the Save button in the pane on the right to save the recipient as a lead.
To send an InMail to a lead:

Sign in to Sales Navigator.

Tap
Messages at the bottom of the screen. -
Tap the
Edit icon in the upper-right corner. -
Begin entering the name of your recipient in the To: box and select them from the dropdown list.

If the lead's profile is locked, you’ll need to tap Unlock full profile before you can message them.

Add a subject line (200 character limit) and enter your message (1900 character limit).

You can also tap the
Plus icon to add an attachment. -
Click Send to send your message.
You can view your conversation with the lead in your Sales Navigator inbox. Keep in mind, your LinkedIn and Sales Navigator inboxes are separate, so messages sent from Sales Navigator won’t appear in your LinkedIn inbox.
