How to discover candidates with Resume Search
When you search for candidates in Recruiter, you can see details from the candidate’s LinkedIn profile and resume on the candidate's profile card.
When you view the Experience section of a profile, it displays the LinkedIn profile and resume in one unified view. You can click Highlight information from resume to see which specific parts are extracted from the candidate's resume.
In the Skills section, click a skill to see when the candidate added it to their profile. Skills from a resume will be surfaced in the candidate's profile card within Recruiter Search, but unlike Experience, will not be listed on the candidate's full profile.
Frequently asked questions
A resume can come from many channels, including:
- Resumes submitted by job seekers when they apply for a job at your company
- Resumes manually uploaded by recruiters at your company
- Resumes shared by job seekers who grant LinkedIn permission to share their resumes with recruiters from other companies
LinkedIn uses a tool that combines artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) to automatically pull information from a candidate’s resume. The information is then compared to LinkedIn’s skill-based data and matches with a high degree of confidence are showcased on the candidate's profile card. We never remove information from a candidate's profile. We only append to it with information from the resume.
If a candidate’s resume has an irregular format or file type, it may be challenging for the tool to pull information, which can result in a low degree of confidence during processing. In this case, the skill won’t be added to the candidate profile card.
The candidate's experience will show the following information from their resume:
- New position from resume – A position that wasn’t on their LinkedIn profile, but was discovered on their resume
- Job confirmation – A position that was identical on their LinkedIn profile and resume
- Alternate job title – Positions that were similar but the job title was slightly different
- Alternate Company name – Positions that were similar but the company name was slightly different
