Delete Ad Accounts, Campaigns, Ad sets, and Ads in Campaign Manager - Overview

Last updated: 6 months ago

You can delete ad accounts, campaigns, ad sets, and ads that were created by mistake or aren’t needed.

When you delete entities in Campaign Manager, here are a few things to keep in mind:

  • You must have the right level of access to delete an entity.

    • Ad account: You must be the billing admin on the ad account.
    • Campaign or ad set: You need campaign manager access or higher on the ad account.
    • Ad: You need creative manager access or higher on the ad account.
  • Once you’ve deleted an account, campaign, ad set, or ad, the action can’t be reversed.

  • When you delete an account, campaign, or ad set, every entity below it will be deleted. This means that:

    • When you delete an account, all campaigns, ad sets, and ads in that account will also be deleted.
    • When you delete a campaign, all ad sets and ads in that group will be deleted.
    • When you delete an ad set, all ads in the ad set will be deleted. Keep in mind, the ads will only be deleted in the specific ad set you chose.
    • When you delete an ad, the ad will only be deleted in the specific ad set you chose. If you've used the ad in other places (for example, if it's been sponsored or duplicated), it won't be deleted in those places.
  • When you delete an ad account, the status will show as Pending Deletion while we verify that there is no outstanding balance. This may take up to 24 hours.

    • If we determine an account has an outstanding balance it will remain as Pending Deletion until the balance is resolved.
    • Keep in mind, Pending Deletion status can't be reversed.

You can view deleted accounts, campaigns, ad sets, and ads that had performance metrics in Campaign Manager.
