Custom screening questions - Best practices

Last updated: 1 week ago

In addition to the pre-populated screening questions, you can add custom screening questions to your job post on LinkedIn. Applicants will be asked these questions as part of the application process.

We recommend the following best practices when writing custom screening questions:
  • Frame your custom screening question so that it’s clear to applicants it’s a question they need to respond to as opposed to a statement.

  • Ensure that your custom screening questions have either Y/N or numeric format responses.
  • If your custom questions are similar to pre-populated questions, use the pre-populated screening questions to help you get better candidate matching.
  • Be respectful, professionally relevant, and on-topic.
  • Follow our Professional Community Policies.
  • Focus on job-relevant questions. Age and gender related questions will cause your job post to be removed.
Good custom screening questions should focus on assessing an applicant’s skill, skill level, or ability to do the job. For example:
  • Are you available for evening shifts?
  • How many years of experience do you have in designing consumer mobile products?
  • Have you worked in a role where you were responsible for brand marketing?
