You can schedule your live video in advance and promote it both on and off LinkedIn.

LinkedIn Live allows eligible members and organizations to broadcast live video content to LinkedIn Page followers, profile connections, or LinkedIn Events attendees. It’s a great way to ensure your attendees can connect with each other and have conversations before, during, and after the event in a dedicated space.

If you’re using one of the third-party streaming tools, sign in to your LinkedIn account. You'll see the option to stream from your profile, your Page, or into an Event. Select Event to see all the upcoming events you manage. Learn more about organizing a LinkedIn Event.

Note: You can only choose one destination for your stream. You can’t simultaneously stream into an event and into your profile or Page.

Before livestreaming on LinkedIn Live, you can create a test stream to make sure everything is right. Steps to set up a test stream vary depending on the tool you’re using. Refer to the guidance from your tool.

Real-time auto captions are currently supported for livestreams created through LinkedIn’s API partners with audio in English. Enabling auto captions for your video will make it more accessible to a broader audience. Captions enabled for a livestream will continue through post-live playback.

You must enable auto captions on your broadcast tool before going live. You can then enable or disable the captions on the LinkedIn platform while you’re live or after the stream ends by clicking on Edit video on the upper right of your stream. You won’t have the option to enable captioning after going live. Your live video won’t include auto captions in replay mode if you disabled them during the stream.

If auto captions are enabled on a live stream with pass-through closed captioning, the player will only display the auto captions.

Captions are always shown at the bottom of the screen. Do not position any headings, banners or stickers at the bottom of the screen to avoid overlap with the captions.

For Pages admins broadcasting on behalf of a Page, you have the ability to respond to comments within a livestream as the Page, rather than with your profile. To do this, enter into your Admin View and ensure you are in the View as Admin setting (this should be the default setting). Then navigate to your video that is live currently, click into it and go into theater mode (if on mobile). You can then start commenting on behalf of your Page.

As a broadcaster or admin for a broadcasting Page, you can moderate the chat during your live stream by deleting, reporting, or muting specific comments or commenters. If you see an unwanted comment, you can mute the commenter by clicking the More icon and selecting Mute. By muting a commenter, you’re muting their ability to react or comment on that specific live video and any replays of that video. This doesn’t prevent the commenter from reacting or commenting on other live videos.

If you have a ‘starting soon’ screen at the beginning of your stream or if you’ve spent a few minutes testing audio/video prior to getting started, you can choose to trim the beginning or end of your live video once recording is available.

You can trim recordings or scheduled Live Events; however, this feature is not available if you go live spontaneously.

To trim the video:

You’ll see a Trim processing message. The updated recording will be available shortly.

If you want to undo your trim, click  Revert to original on the Edit your video pop-up window.

As an event organizer, you can download the event recording from the Event Details page after the event ends.
