License types and buffer in Learning Overview

Last updated: 5 months ago

Important to know

To access the unified Admin Center, admins can use two entry points, depending on whether or not their profile is connected. Users with connected profiles can use the Admin Center tile in the header or select Me > Manage users.

Users without connected profiles can select Me > Manage users.

LinkedIn Learning currently offers licenses for libraries in English, French, German, Japanese, and Spanish. Depending on what types of licenses have been purchased by your organization, you may see one or more of these available as filters within the License type dropdown in the LinkedIn Admin Center.

Important to know

If you select No learning license as your filter and your organization utilizes multiple Enterprise products with LinkedIn, you may see users from another product, such as Sales Navigator. This feature is available to all admins to streamline the user management process across LinkedIn products. Learn more about account level management in the Learn more section at the bottom of this page.

You can also see a quick snapshot of your products under Welcome to Admin Center. In this section, you can see and take action on the following items (left to right):

  • Total: Number and type of licenses purchased

  • Activated: Number of users who have activated their licenses

  • Invited: Number of users who have been invited, but have not activated their license

  • Available: Number of licenses available to assign

As you begin setting up your LinkedIn Learning Enterprise license as an Admin, it may take a bit of time to determine how many people in your organization will want, or require, a license. To give you some flexibility as you get up and running, you may see that you have more licenses available than what you’ve originally purchased.

These extra licenses are available through your first year, and will help you to determine the number of licenses you’ll require upon renewal the next year.

If you have any questions or concerns regarding the extra number of licenses you see available in your account, please reach out to your sales representative for more information.

Important to know

The flexible buffer license feature is only available during the first year of your LinkedIn Learning Enterprise subscription.

Enterprise license assignment limits in Learning

As a LinkedIn Learning admin, your available license assignments is based on the number of licenses your organization has purchased and the number of assignments already made on your account.
Each time you assign or reassign a license, even if it's to the same individual, the action counts towards your total license assignment limit. For example, if you purchased 100 licenses, and assigned those 100 licenses, you'd still have 20 reassignments available for use. When you've reached 50% of your assignment limit, you'll see a note within your account alerting you to your number of remaining licenses.

Notes

  • In the first year of your account, you may have some flexibility in the number of licenses you're able to assign, causing your total number of available assignments to be up to 25% higher.
  • Your available license assignments will reset at the time of your annual renewal.
