Governor Gretchen Whitmer declared a state of emergency in Tuscola County and the Village of Holly in Oakland County due to extreme flooding caused by recent severe weather events. “Today, as I extend the existing state of emergency to Tuscola County and the Village of Holly, we now have 41 counties and three municipalities facing damage to homes, businesses and infrastructure from recent severe weather, including historic flooding, tornadoes, and straight-line winds,” said Governor Whitmer. “While the impacts are unprecedented, we will rebuild and recover together, and I will ensure every community has access to the resources they need every step of the way. Thank you to every first responder who has stepped up to protect Michiganders and their property.” Read more at https://lnkd.in/gBbv_3yi and follow the MSP Emergency Management & Homeland Security Division for the latest verified information involving the state's coordinated response to Michigan's #AprilStorms and #MiCheboyganDam2026. Yesterday, Governor Whitmer expands State of Emergency for 32 additional counties as severe weather impacts Michigan. “I’m declaring a state of emergency for 32 additional counties following severe weather,” said Governor Whitmer. “Significant snowmelt, record rain, flooding, straight-line winds, and tornadoes have damaged homes, roads, and businesses. This emergency declaration will help the state deploy additional resources to help local officials and first responders protect Michiganders and their property. The state will continue to coordinate with local governments and monitor the situation. I encourage everyone to stay updated and follow guidance from your local emergency manager. We will get through this together.” Read more at https://lnkd.in/g-vw9_8F?.
