Women's sports is one of the most undervalued asset classes in the market right now. Sylvia S. Kwan, CFA, CAIA, CEO and CIO of Ellevest, is joining us as a speaker at our 3rd Annual Private Wealth US Spring Retreat in Carlsbad. Ahead of the retreat, she made the case for why private wealth advisors need to be paying attention - not as impact, not as a gender lens, but as a high-upside, low-correlation play across the entire women's sports ecosystem. 🔥 Request the agenda to see the full lineup of CIOs and private wealth leaders attending, plus all the hot topics on the table - Private Wealth US Spring Retreat on May 11–13, at the Park Hyatt Aviara, Golf Club & Spa, in Carlsbad: https://lnkd.in/gn4XCBVP #MarketsGroupPW Brett Friedberg Thomas Hind Cassia D. I read something this week that I have not been able to stop thinking about. Ellevest's CEO, Dr. Sylvia Kwan (Ellevest), said that wealthy clients are still financially anxious and that more money alone does not fix it. The industry has been so focused on optimizing returns that it has missed the actual point. She is right. By 2048, women will inherit the majority of $124 trillion in the Great Wealth Transfer. And most of the wealth management industry is only now beginning to develop strategies that reflect how women actually live. The career pivots. The caregiving seasons. The longer lifespans. The desire to know their money is not quietly working against their values. High-earning women are excelling professionally and still making investment decisions based on defaults, instinct, or whatever their employer set up for them. Not because they are not capable. Because nobody built something that actually fits their lives. Women are not risk-averse. We are risk-aware. There is a difference. And it is time the industry started treating it that way. • Meet Lindsay Goffman, an Ellevest client and the co-founder of Refundly — a mobile and web-based platform solving the $890 billion returns problem by automatically tracking, confirming, and collecting refunds in one place. With a career spanning two decades in entertainment, Lindsay started in the ICM mailroom as the only woman there and eventually helped build 3AD, Daniel Dae Kim's production company, where she championed “The Good Doctor” from a Korean format. For Lindsay, that show became personal before it became a hit when her son Oliver was born completely blind, and seeing a story about someone with a disability thriving in an impossible career meant everything to her as a new mother fighting for him. She went on to produce “The Company You Keep” (also adapted from a Korean format). Her entire career has been about recognizing something that should exist and refusing to stop until it does. Then the 2023 strikes hit, Hollywood shut down, and during that time she returned something online and never got her money back. She went looking for a tool to track it. There wasn't one. So she built it. Refundly is live in the App Store and has been featured on the Today Show, Forbes, CNBC, Fashionista, and RetailWire. You can download the app here, https://lnkd.in/geaxXcXq. Ellevest had the pleasure of partnering with the Angel Capital Association to help kick off its annual summit in Denver, CO this week with a fabulous morning in the mountains. Nearly 30 women woke up early for a group hike before the conference programming began — and during a week that features Earth Day, it felt especially fitting. Here’s what I was reminded of: There’s something about being outside that changes the dynamic of traditional networking. When you trade conference rooms for a trail, the conversations shift. They become more open and free-flowing faster … more relatable and real. What stood out the most wasn’t just what we talked about but how we talked. Walking side by side on a trail, surrounded by nature, created space for stories and ideas to flow in a way that’s hard to replicate indoors. Maybe that’s the best way to celebrate Earth Day this year: put down the recycling tips and actually go be in it. It was easily the highlight of the week for me, and a good reminder to bring more work outside as we head into the warmer months! #EarthDay #WomenInBusiness #Networking #WomenInInvesting #Wealthcare
