About us
Away is a modern lifestyle brand creating thoughtful products designed to transform travel. Since our launch in February 2016, we have become one of the fastest growing consumer brands in the world. We have sold millions of travel products, grown from a team of four to over 250, expanded shipping to nearly 40 countries, opened seven stores across two countries, and launched several new products and experiences that are inspiring more people to travel the world. And we know that’s just the beginning! In just over three years, we have already been twice named one of Fast Company’s “World’s Most Innovative Companies,” one of TIME’s “50 Most Genius Companies,” one of LinkedIn's "Top Startups," and a Forbes “Next Billion Dollar Startup.” We have also raised more than $156M in total equity funding to fuel our next phase of growth. Today, we’re expanding into new travel product categories including apparel, wellness and lifestyle accessories as well as investing in the growth of physical retail in the US and abroad--with the plan to open 50 new stores in the next three years. Sound like something you want to be part of? We’re hiring!

We were honored to have Away represented at SXSW this year, with our CEO Jessica Schinazi joining memorable conversations around innovation, creativity, and what comes next. At the Fast Company Grill panel, "The Future of Travel: Where Immersion, Technology, and Storytelling Converge," and The Female Quotient Lounge discussion, "Built for What's Next: The CEO as Builder," Jessica reflected on how the travel industry is changing – and how the best brands are changing with it. She shared how Away thinks about designing products that speak to both the practical and deeply personal sides of travel, and what it means to build something that grows with its customers rather than just alongside them. Thank you to the Fast Company Events team, The Female Quotient team, and fellow panelists Richard Bailey, Thomas Geraghty, Nadja Bellan-White (she/her/ella), Julia Hartz, and Jen Zeszut. As we continue to lead Away into the future of travel, conversations like these remind us how much more there is to explore.

Travel starts before you pack ✈️ Away is officially entering a strategic partnership with Fora Travel, the modern travel agency powering a new generation of travel entrepreneurs. Together, we’re bringing products and planning into one seamless ecosystem – connecting inspiration, packing, and expertly designed trips into a true end-to-end travel experience. As Fora’s official luggage partner, this marks their first large-scale consumer brand collaboration and an exciting milestone for Away as we step into our second decade. It’s also a reflection of where we’re headed: meeting travelers earlier in their journey — where they plan and book — not just where they pack. "Our mission at Away is to be at the forefront of travel innovation, and we’re thrilled to partner with like-minded industry pioneer, Fora," said Jessica Schinazi, CEO of Away. "This partnership aims to create travel experiences for our shared consumers that are smarter, more seamless, and ultimately more memorable." We’re proud of the cross-functional team that brought this partnership to life. Follow Away and Fora Travel to stay in the loop as we roll out activations, content, and plenty of travel inspiration throughout the year. We’re excited to share that Away has been named to Inc. Magazine’s 2025 Best in Business list, recognized in the Best Marketing category. From the start, we’ve believed that a strong brand is built through great storytelling, meaningful connection, and design that puts travel first. This approach has guided us from our earliest days, and it’s rewarding to see that work recognized. This honor reflects the momentum we’re building as we reach more travelers around the world, welcome new customers, and continue strengthening the relationship we’ve had with our community since the beginning. A heartfelt thank you to our team for bringing our brand to life in thoughtful, creative ways every day and to our community for trusting Away to be part of your journey. ✈️💼 Here’s to growing, evolving, and continuing to go places together. https://lnkd.in/eGGiunhi #BestInBusiness

This season, we set out to push against the usual tropes of holiday advertising and create storytelling that extends beyond the borders of traditional travel. We wanted to tap into something universal: the craving for more of the things that matter—more humor, more real-life connection, and yes, a little more fun. “Get Away With More,” an anthem developed in collaboration with Gus embraces that spirit fully. Together, we created a world where suitcases represent spontaneity, and an entire holiday feast could be carried out (and carried on) through the magic of getting Away. To continue the theme of getting Away with more mischief, we partnered with multidisciplinary artist Gab Bois to create an 8-foot-tall replica of our iconic Away suitcase that landed on the streets of SoHo earlier this month. Known for reimagining everyday objects in playful, thought-provoking ways, Gab helped bring forward our campaign concept into the real world with an unforgettable, larger-than-life installation for our community. In a moment when AI blurs what feels real, we made an intentional choice to celebrate physical creative experiences. It's a statement about our values and what Away has always championed: the emotional, transformative power of actual travel, true connections, and most importantly, the human response. Here’s to the holidays, and to making room for more this season.

Transgender Awareness Week wrapped up yesterday, and we’ve been reflecting on what inclusion really looks like at Away—and celebrating the people who make it happen every day. Our culture is built on the idea that when people can show up as their full, authentic selves, we all thrive. That belief is at the heart of SOGIE Love, our LGBTQ+ Employee Resource Group. This year, SOGIE Love turned that belief into action through their SERVE partnership with the incredible The Ali Forney Center, the nation’s largest organization supporting LGBTQ+ youth experiencing homelessness. Through ERG events, fundraisers, and company matches, our team collectively raised fundraised and donated Away products to support the Center’s mission—helping provide safe shelter, meals, and medical care for trans and all LGBTQ+ youth in need. A heartfelt thank you to every member of SOGIE Love, our ERG co-leads, and everyone who contributed. Your dedication is helping build a workplace—and a world—where belonging isn’t just talked about, it’s lived. #transgenderawarenessweek

We like our luggage like we like our coffee—crafted to perfection. Introducing the Aluminum Edge Collection, Away’s reimagining of a classic. This new line offers a hybrid between our lightweight polycarbonate and iconic aluminum suitcases – combining timeless sophistication with the resilience and easy handling travelers know and love. We’re proud of the new offering that brings together the best of both worlds. To celebrate the launch, we hit the road with Onyx Coffee Lab, bringing our pop-up Concierge Café to Boston, Washington D.C., Chicago, and NYC. United by a shared dedication to craft and quality, Away and Onyx came together to create an experience where elevated travel meets exceptional taste. Guests explored the new collection over Onyx’s signature blends, coffee tastings, and postcards to their future selves. At each stop, guests explored the new collection over Onyx’s signature blends, coffee tastings, and postcards to their future selves. We wrapped the tour with the debut of our Meridian leather bags – the perfect companion pieces to Aluminum Edge, designed for a refined, travel-ready lifestyle.
