What is the difference between abstract and concrete data types?

ADTs (Abstract Data Types – Tipos de Dados Abstratos) são tipos de dados definidos pelo programador que encapsulam uma coleção de dados e as operações que podem ser realizadas sobre esses dados. Eles fornecem uma interface de alto nível para interagir com os dados, ocultando os detalhes de implementação subjacentes. Em outras palavras, eles definem o que um tipo de dado pode fazer, mas não como ele é implementado. ADTs também são conhecidas como "Tipos de Dados Derivados".

Abstract Data Types describe what a data structure does without specifying how it does it under the hood. However, the Concrete Data Types provide the actual implementation logic of the data structure along with how it is stored. Eg: Linked List is a concrete data type but Queue is an abstract data type.

Os benefícios de uso de abstração de dados podem ocorrer sob os aspectos de três características: simplificação, reutilização de código e manutenção. A simplificação permite que programadores trabalhem em um nível mais alto de abstração, lidando apenas com as operações disponíveis e não com os detalhes de implementação. A reutilização de código pode ocorrer a partir do encapsulamento de dados e operações em um ADT, eles podem ser reutilizados em diferentes partes de um programa ou projeto.
